Malaysia offers warring couples free honeymoons

Under Islam, divorce is frowned upon, with the Prophet Mohammed saying divorce was, in the eyes of God, the most distasteful lawful act.

Hence, according to a Reuters report, Malaysias eastern state of Terengganu is offering free honeymoons worth up to $440 each to rekindle the romance between married couples on the brink of divorce.
The honeymoon package comes with some counselling and is an attempt to slow soaring divorce rates in the state.
Well, even Kuwait has high divorce rates and it will be a welcome gesture towards the society, if the Kuwait goverment replicates such a move.

Please forward this to the concerned Minister or the press media to highlight this in the press.

  1. If Kuwait imitates them, they would have to increase the $440 package simply because Kuwaities expect more.

Also, I’m certain if such a thing were ever implemented, the system would get abused like how medical trips abroad are financed abroad by the government and how families use the trip and money to buy unnecessary luxuries.

People would use the package money to buy cars or something stupid.

The divorce rates are high due to a lack of things for couples to do, husbands spending time in diwaniyas as opposed than with their wife, and ’some’ (keyword some) arranged marriages are just failures from the start due to a lack of understanding one another, etc.

Also it’s frowned upon for couples to show their affection in public and it’s other small things that contribute to the deterioration of the marriage as a whole in my opinion.

    Just my 2 fils.

  2. hope no minister is going to get grilled over this !!
